Elizabeth Kitchen‑Troop

Elizabeth Kitchen-Troop, Family Law Attorney

Elizabeth Kitchen-Troop focuses on divorce and complex custody disputes. She has extensive litigation experience, making her a standout among her peers as a highly-skilled negotiator and litigator, a lawyer who is able to reach favorable results for her clients both in and out of the courtroom. She excels in mediation and also works as an arbitrator, parenting coordinator and guardian ad litem. She is a vigorous advocate for her clients’ interests.

Elizabeth comes by her love of the law naturally. Her father, Leonard Kitchen, practiced law in Dexter, Michigan for over 35 years. Following her graduation from law school in 2004, she joined her father’s practice in Dexter where she honed her expertise in assisting clients. After she assisted him in winding down his general practice, she opened her own firm, focusing her practice on family law, criminal law, abuse/neglect proceedings, landlord/tenant matters, wills and trusts and other small business matters. Beginning in 2006, she joined Kline Legal Group as an associate attorney, where she remained until 2019.

In her 16 years of practice, family law remains Elizabeth’s true passion. Elizabeth believes divorce and custody issues are immensely stressful and yet the agreements or Orders reached impact the parties and their children for a lifetime. Family law attorneys see the best people on their worst behavior. Having mediated hundreds of cases, she brings a keen ability to see “the big picture”—as both a mediator and litigator—enabling her to creatively and pragmatically fashion family-focused results. Elizabeth knows how to move a family forward, whether by reaching an agreement or litigating the case.

Elizabeth earned her undergrad degree cum laude in psychology from the University of Michigan and her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Toledo College of Law.
